Happy Monday! I’m currently in transit, so to speak. I arrived back from New Zealand on Friday and Gordy and I are heading off to Bali this evening. It’s been a lovely little transition weekend unpacking all our winter gear, getting some washing done, repacking for a warmer climate and catching up with friends in between – including recording Episode 29 of the podcast where I’ll give you all the info on our NZ finds.
But I will tell you now, it was bloody cold in NZ! You’re obviously a lot further south than you are in Melbourne and you can just feel that in the air. Queenstown is such a beautiful place to visit and its popularity is pretty incredible in winter, even for those who aren’t skiing.
What I was most amazed at is how many people sit outside to eat and drink. I can only imagine how much the place goes off in summer, based on the huge outdoor dining scene. But I was freezing my bum off just walking around the town! I would not have been able to sit there with an ice-cold beer to further add to the chill.
Which made me think of our discussion last week about the winter blues that so many of us feel and how we can try and get through them. I mean, if people can sit outside in Queenstown for dinner when it’s 5 degrees, we should be able to get through the next few weeks right!?
While everyone does not have the luxury to jet off on a beach holiday in August, like I’m about to do, we can find rituals to cultivate to warm us, physically and emotionally. We chatted about a few ourselves, but do you have any more suggestions for us?
